I enjoy celebrations. I enjoy specific days in the year where we celebrate.
Christmas, Easter, Shrove Tuesday, New Year, Halloween, birthdays, Bonfire Night and Valentine’s Day.
I love them all.
But it isn’t the reason we celebrate that is important for me, it is the celebration itself.
I love the opportunity to meet with friends and family and to show people I care.
Today is Valentine’s Day.
So far today I have left little presents for my children containing reasons I am proud of them.
I have walked to my coffee shop with another regular. An elderly lady who sits by herself, we spoke about her memories of marmite after the war and I wished her a happy Valentine’s Day, which made her beam.
My partner and I have planned an evening together to reconnect after a particularly busy and challenging couple of weeks.
I plan to continue to show the people in my life that they are special and make a difference to me.
I find celebrations a good time to do this. Life can be so busy that we can forget how simple acts of kindness can go a long way to lift a mood, deepen a relationship or strengthen a friendship.
Valentine’s Day isn’t just for lovers, it is for everyone who loves.
What are you going to do today?
Happy Valentine’s Day 💐🌻🌺🌻🌺
